I am looking for a real tall ring and pinion for a 12 bolt. Could be out of truck or car. Looking for something in the 2.20’s or 2.30’s for a LSR project. I have 2.41’s but need taller, or if some one can point me to a shop or person that can make a one off set.

Have you checked with Randy's ring and pinion?

Thanks for the info. But I have tried just all of these guys. I think I will have to make the gear, anybody know a shop or person that can do this?

There is a shop in Omaha that specializes in designing and making gears but they may not be able to do hypoid. Give me a day or so and I'll get you a contact. The most practical would be to find a different rear which originally offered the ratio you are after.

Some of the ’72-'76 Cadillac Deville’s with the 500 CI engine had a 2.29.1 12 bolt. But most of the junkyards are too lazy or wont go check. If I could find one of those would be great.

I have a rearend out of a 79? Cadillac Seville with a 2.25 or 2.29 ratio. It has disc brakes. Probably cost more to ship than it's worth though. If you're interested, let me know. Joe

I am in the San Fran bay area. None of the junk yards want to take the time to look for the gears. Its a small margin part for them.

Try Gevos Rears and Gears. I believe they are in NY, Conn in the Northeast Found son 2.56 Pontiacs for my LSR project a few years back. J.D.

Find out what year and make the rear end came in, and then call Dorris auto wreckers, or The Rear End Shop.

I don't know about the ring gear, but car and truck 12 bolt pinion gears have a different shaft diameter, the truck on being smaller in diameter.2.70 ish gears are available for the truck 12 bolt, but not all that common.

The truck 12 bolts will work with a different bearing; I have a set of 2.49 out of a truck set up this way. Because I am running a 23” tall tire I need to be around 2.18. I heard that some Cadillac’s came with this gear. If I cant find the gears I will have to make my own rear end to get the tall gears I need.If I do that I can gol tall as 1.55. I already did the drawings for it, but want to find something off the shelf before building it.
