Yeah, that's kinda what I'm looking for. I was looking for main cap straps that tie to the other main caps also. How much does that modification cost that you do? Thanks Hank

Are you looking for just the straps and studs? Or doweling the main caps also?

Sorry Hank, I don't have as much time as I would like to view all these posts. We had Leo's motor tuned for around 600HP, and we didn't see any problems w/ bearings, and/or cap walk. The 292 has a pretty beefy bottom end, as I'm sure you already know. We did this more as a security measure for when we start pumping up the boost. We were only able to muster about 12 lbs. of boost out of the turbo last year. But with the new turbos for this year, we will be pushing past 30 lbs., heading to over 1000HP. That's when I think it will really help us. Should eliminate any cap flex, and cap walk, which kills beaings. This modification will help any race engine, or High RPM engine, but I don't think it is needed for most street applications. What are you building? Ken www.CustomDesignPerformance.com

I am building a turbocharged 250 & I would like to get 600-700 HP. I would like to run about 20 lbs of boost & spin the engine to 6000-7000 RPM range. It will be more of a 1/4 mile car but will see the street also. My turbo is a little small, but it is what I have for now. Did Leo's old engine w/600 HP have the main caps modified? Thanks Hank

Hank,
No, last year they were not strapped or doweled. We just wanted an insurance policy for this year.

Hank,
No, we saw no signs of moving or flexing. Main bearings looked like new. Like I said, they have a very beefy lower end stock, we just wanted a little extra insurance for this year.
