i have got a 58 chevy truck with a 235. i want to know if there is a good combination for it. i want 2 or 3 carbs, dont really have to chnge the cam if not needed. i will use her as a somewhat daily driver. want to put headers and cherryboms on her, what kind of intake, carbs, ignition and headers go good with what i am wanting. the motor has been rebuilt but rebuilt as stock.and most important if i have to haul something i would still like the torque she has. im am not looking for a racing truck, but i want her to move. //////any help would be very helpful /////

You should contact Tom Langdon for a pair of his sweet progressive two-barrel carbs. They oughta do fine with your cam and headers.

You'd need 3 of 'em, if you wanted to get rowdy with a cam, compression increase, bigger valves and springs. Tom will give you the straight scoop!

Lord, let me live long enough to do all the projects I have planned!

I agree. I will be using Stovebolts carbs on my 225 slant six motor. You would get best results with a more agressive cam though. He has everything you have asked. about

OK so 2 2brl. carbs should do great with the stock cam? one of my freinds said that 3 carb setup might hit my firewall. the other thing is i heared not all intakes and headers work with each other. as for cam ill probably will stick with stock unless there is one that will boost the bottom end and top some /// without turning 4000 rpm to get it////. see i am a old 350 chevy racer, i know what to do to them to get what i want , but i am learning on this one. ///JUST WISH MY DAD WAS STILL AROUND TO GIVE ME TIPS//RIP// he yoused to tell me stories on these motors.thanks for the reply

Heres a pic of a 3x1 on an early Chevy truck.(may be a fellow inliners truck!) Seems to fit with no problem. I would think a 58 engine bay would be even bigger. But, I think Tom at Stovebolt can tell you if 3 Webers will fit a 58 truck and advise you on header/intake/cam choices for your application. Don

Errr....the 'early truck' with the 3x1 carbs is actually my '49 Chev car..............

Wish it still looked like that instead of 1,000 pieces all over my garage-----After 3 months I still don't have the 235 swapped for the 216; to much other stuff to do

I did NOT break the tank(s)!
