You are right! I honestly have to say that most newer type motors are just plain ugly. Especially some of the newer inlines. The I4 in my wrangler looks like it is mostly made of plastic except what you can see of the block. Old inline motors had class and style to them. I was wondering if that was a stock exhaust mani on that 3500? If it is, it didn't seem like a bad design for stock.

I'd say No it's not a stock intake Look at all the welds. GM would cast it?? saves time and money??

Looks stock to me. I don't think anyone would put embossed numbers on a fabricated steel manifold.

That is the stock EXHAUST manifold for the Colorado / Canyon. The intake on the Nova was made by Self Racing (OK). Some of you know him...
As far as the beauty- I'd say most of it is in the engineering. Valve covers, intakes, etc can be changed. I myself like the different look; but I can like anything that makes alot of power.

Tried something last night. I slid a small block chev bellhousing onto the dowels on the vortec 4200/6, the dowels line up between the two engines and I dialed in the crank flange at .006" to the trans hole. So the thing is just making up a plate of sorts for the two different bolt patterns as no 2 bolts line up, making up longer dowels as well for the extra plate thickness. hope this helps someone out. LHP... if you are interested I had an adapter made to bolt a TH350, 400 etc with standard Chevrolet belhousing pattern to the 4200. Also had a crankshaft adapter made to bolt a flex plate or flywheel for above transmissions. I had originally intended to use a TH200 4-R behind the 4200 I'm putting in my '55 chevy truck, since I had it from a previous project. Ended up going with a 5-speed out of a Colorado since I prefer manual transmissions anyways. Now I'm stuck with a $2500 custom aluminum adapter, anyone interested? -Chuck

I believe the truck is a 50. Chevy engineers in Mesa AZ did the truck for sema. I talked to them and they won't give any information on it other than they did it in house. Wonderful. They build a truck to showcase the motor and then won't tell you anything about it.

Typical GM, eh? Funny thing is- it was at the GM crate motor display at the Turkey Rod Run last fall (04). I'm not the smartest guy around, but it sure seems like they could have been touting the motor's 'swappability'.
Then again, we are talking about the same guys responsible for killing the Fiero in 89, killing the Fbod in 02, and the visually-challenged Aztec!
