I am writing an article about Eddy Edmunds who probably made more different types of speed equipment than any other manufacturer from the 30s to the 50s. Most guys were satisfied with making speed equipment for the flathead Fords or overhead Chevys but Eddy did it all, from Fords to Kaiser Frasers. If anyone out there happens to have any information(hard to find) or old ads of his products, if you can send me a copy it will be included and posted here.. Thanks Bigpag

I assume that you have looked through all of the old Hot Rod Magazines, from January 1948 to sometime in the late 1950s when flatheads faded away. I remember a feature in HRM with photographs of Edmunds heads for lots of different flathead engines. I had one of their catalogs at the time, but it seems to be long gone now. Sounds like a fun project!

I do have a lot of his old ads etc. but I am now looking for photo's of the guy.. Few and far between. If I could find out for sure say month and year, of the old auto mags. I can still purchase many of them off the internet... My problem is he died in 1959 and the people who knew him best are almost all gone also.. Bigpag

Vintage Speed (Edmunds specialist)

Bigpag,

Are you familiar with this outfit? Its format is kind of unusual, at least on my browser. Is it you? How many Edmunds fans are out there? Best of luck!

If there were articles in the old HRM, you should be able to get reprints from the Petersen Publishing archives, which I believe go all the way back to when the magazine was first published. Petersen sold the whole publishing group to an outfit named Primedia, who is now publishing Hot Rod and all the other former Petersen magazines, but their offices are still in the same location in Los Angeles as far as I know, so try contacting them and see if they can help with your story. It sounds like an interesting project.
