OK you guys got me curious about A) what the batteries do and B) why there were none in mine when I got it returned from Williamson's, and C) what did I get for my $120. So I go to their
web site and here is the explanation:
We buy, sell, service and trade SUN , FORD and GM Tachometers!
We convert SUN two-piece tachometers to solid state so they no longer need the hard to find and expensive mercury 1.35 volt batteries. The unit will work better then new. No more removing the screw from the top of the tansmitter and adjusting so to get the pointer to hold steady. The unit will hook up the same and look the same from the outside but will work better then the way sun did it so many years ago before there were solid state devices !
