I've got a set of real nice early 6 volt horns that I would like to use in one of my trucks.I tested them with my truck's 12 volt battery and they are working great.Once I install them would it be ok to feed them 12 volts or should I come up with a way to supply 6 volts?If 6 volts are needed,how do I go about reducing voltage from 12 to 6 to feed the horns?HF

On my '54 GMC, I am using the original horns and they work fine on 12 volts. Joe

I'll agree on using the horns as-is. Just remember that you can burn out any horn by laying on it too long, and the time is reduced somewhat for 6V units in a 12V system

Thanks for the replies,I thought all along to run them on 12 volts until an electrician friend of mine planted the seed of doubt in my mind,12 volts it is.HF
