I'm pretty new to inline engines so I'm glad I heard about your board. I hope I'm posting this question under the right subject. How much is a 250 inline six and powerglide worth? Both are in great operating condition and they have somewhere around 30,000-40,000 miles on them. Thanks for any info.

They are in good shape. I'll do a compression check on the engine to see how that checks out. It runs really well and has somewhere around 30,000-40,000 miles on it. The previous owner put a chrome valve cover and air cleaner on it (not a really big deal). The powerglide shifts well and a mechanic who went for a ride said he though it had a shift kit.

the powerglide sound pretty good especially if it does have a shift kit. if the compression is around 150 give or take a few then thats primo. those shiny parts should atleast make the engine wort 1000.00,lol. if i were u id put a decent price tag on it with an 'o.b.o'. most people dont really want to buy inline sixes because they can get V8's and hop them up for cheaper. people that do buy inlines usually hope to get a good deal so they can spend more on hopping them up. i bought my engine rebuilt with 20,000 on it and a tranny for about 200.00. hope this helps.

Thanks slayer for your input. I was thinking maybe $300-$400 for both. Do you think this board's classified section would be the best place to put it?

u could put it on this boards classified section, u might get some good results,u could also post here and on a few other forums. the ford six forum is a good place as well, just remember to give a thorough explanation of both. stating the condition, miles, compression, and brands should also help the sales

Sorry it took me awhile to respond. Yes I am planning on putting something a little larger under the hood. Not nearly as unique as keeping the six, but I don't have the money to build the six to run the way a 413 would.

Let me say this that I bought two heads off good running faily low milage engines, ( one looked like it was rebuilt 230 engines for $50.00 Can$$ a peice.
One was a 1966 the other 1964 they came off show cars, people had swaped for 8 cyl after they ripped them out of the car they found out they could not get a plucked nickel for there engines, I took there heads cause I can use them on 292s.

At first they were reluctant to wreck a good running 230 moter for just a head, but after a few weeks of being unable to sell them (THEY) ripped the heads off for me to take, then they trashed the rest of the motors.

Pay $35.00 to $50.00 for a good 250 or 230 moter, add another $50.00 for the powerglide there garbage unless you use it for racing. case closed.

I have found one thing is true that BAD people sell bad motors and want big money, and good people give good motors away or trash them or after awhile if you keep in touch with them sell them for PEANUTS.

I don´t mean to sound nosey but where do you live? I might be interested in the motor, although I don´t know about the tranny. I´d rather use my tranny. I´m looking for a 250 to put in my ´67 chevy longwide so I can build the 292 without getting in a hurry. What year is the 250?
