Never knew such a thing had been produced.
Are you sure it's a factory setup?

Based on my experience, and what I've heard from others, getting dual carb setups working right is a little tricky. Mine required a lot of tinkering. Still not quite right, but it's close, and I just got tired of fiddling with it.

According to Bunn's book Dodge Trucks (Crestline), Dodge made dual carb/exhaust setups for two of their inline 6 truck engines. The first one was for the 331/377 BIG six. There is a picture of this unit in the book. It was used in 4 ton trucks. Don't know about other sizes.

The other setup was for the premium 265 engine used in 2 1/2 ton trucks from 1953 to 1959. This unit is also a bolt on for the 251 engine. The 1953 265 with dual carb/exhaust was rated at 135 hp (the single carb version was rated at 120 hp). In 1959 the 265 dual carb version was rated at 141 hp.(130 hp with a single carb).

Chrysler also ran dual carb set ups on marine versions of these blocks.

I can e-mail a pic of it to anyone interested. Also there is a listing in the '51-'53 Dodge/Fargo truck parts book I have too.
Anyone needing part number info on flatheads,or Chrysler products in general,I have parts manuals from 1934 to 1975. For cars, and trucks. Picked them up when the Chrysler dealer closed in '76 here in town. Lots of good info.

Hello everybody,

I'm still around and keeping tabs on the discussions.

Carlo, have you given up on the duals altogether? Air bleed correction is the trick on those pesky ball&ball carbs. The ones on our tractor haven't had to be readjusted or tinkered with one bit since getting them sync'ed last year.

A dual carb setup when functioning properly is a major boost to these engines. When they are not functional, they are a PAIN!

On the tractor, its still holding up without any problems. Although we don't win as much as we did (some bigger ohv's have come to town!) it still turns more rpm's than any of them without problem. It regularly hits 6000, cruises at 5000, the final rpm at the end of a pull is usually in the 4500 range. We're sticking with the basic setup to just see how much this engine can take for how long.

I still think an Edgy head and new cam profile will drasticly improve things. The addition of HEI would add some power to this engine too, but I'm still refining that situation before I grenade another advance mechanism (worn mechanical advances do not like 5000 rpm!).

Hey Hudson! Just dropped by to see if there's anything new here.
Nice to hear your motor's still doing its job. I'm in the process of acquiring a spare motor to do the lower end mods that you described.
I'm still running the ball and balls, my only problem now is a momentary hesitation when I floor it suddenly. I have the accellerator pump set on the longest stroke, lower settings just made it worse. Fuel milage is about 15 mpg or so with the stock 3.92 gearing. I've got a 1956 overdrive transmission that I'm going to mix and match with my 1949 transmission, to improve fuel economy and bring up the cruising speed a touch.

Over at the Plymouth site we figured out it's a Hercules marine piece.
