Hello folks...I have recently picked up a nice old '46 Dodge pickup that has the "short" engine. It is seized up,and I would like to replace it with a 251 that I have. Any tips on this swap? Thanks in advance....Dave.

Best advice is to pull the bigger engine out of a similar model and take everything that connects to it.

I do have all the attaching hardware from the 251. I would think the frames would be the same in all 1/2 ton Dodge/Fargos in '46,so the swap should be do-able.

that gives me an inspiration. i've seen racing lawnmowers, which are a lot of fun, but racing forklifts....now there's an idea!

how about a high-winding coventry-climax 4-banger, putting out 350 horsepower at 10,500 rpm on propane! mount it in a chopped/channeled/sectioned forklift with racing solid rubber tires and set up a track inside a warehouse, then look out!!

..........or, wait, did i get off the subject, here?

Lord, let me live long enough to do all the projects I have planned!

Not even the Godiva gave that power...

You'll need a DFV.

T-120;
I have installed a big block Desoto engine in my Plymouth P-15. I had to modify the front cross member to allow clearance for the harmonic damper, modify and flip the radiator bracket to effectively move the radiator forward 2 inches, modify my oil pan to the steering linkage did not hit it, notch the front fenders to get the radiator in, and a few other minor things I have forgotten. It is doable. I am using an electric pusher fan.
