230 Cubic inch flathead 6. I plan to use an Edgy head, Offy 2 carb manifold, Tom Langdon HEI and headers. Looking to not turn the engine over 4500 RPM

I don't have one of Earl Edgerton's cams in my flatty, but I wish that I'd had him re-grind mine. Earl races these engines on the salt and also has one in a 30's dodge. He's also made a couple of one-off overhead valve conversions for these engines. I've met him several times on the salt flats and watched his maiden run with his '33 Chrysler coupe. I'd recommend him, in my judgment he understands these engines as well or better than anyone. Also, Don Coatney over on the P15-D24.com forum has one of his cams in his 251. Here's a picture of Earl's 12 port fuel injected race flathead- Pete

Now that answers some questions. I saw a '30s Dodge or Plymouth pick up at Bonneville with an overhead conversion. The hood was up on the driver side but I could not see it all. The truck was a push car and I saw it several times but no close again. I'd like to know more about this set up.

The truck belongs to Edgerton's crew chief. Earl made two of these "f" head conversions, one of which is on the truck.

blueskies... I hope you don't mind me poaching that pic of the F-head conversion for an Aussie Mopar site...
Thanks, I knew you'd understand!

That is a really interesting engine and truck. I wish I'd been able to talk to talk to him about it. WE spotted it at a gathering down town in Wendover. Some other guys were guys were looking at it when I got there and some how knew I am an Inliner sort. They started asking me about it so I just made up stuff. I'll look for them next year.
