What would be the compression on a 55 Ply 230 bored 60 over with a 38 218 head---the head has not been shaved........Thanks..52er

The only way to know would be to measure everything, check volumes with a pipette and that sort of thing, then do the calculation.

Don't forget to take into calculation the gasket compressed thickness and any distance the pistons are down the bores on TDC.

Ray, is the chamber area smaller on the 218 head than the 230---this is what I thought would increase the ratio??

I don't know, but you can find out by lying each down upside down, putting some kind of fluid (kerosene is good) into each and measuring how much they take.

Might be a good plan to have spark plugs in them when you do it...

By using the (compression pressures and ratios) chart below you can get a rough idea of your compression ratio.
