Good news Hi Torque.
I also have a factory original 1949 platform/stake body also & it was featured in the March/April 2000 volume 8 ,number 1 , Page 28 of " This Old Truck " AKA " Vintage Truck " magazine. I hope you kept your truck original.

well, its an old post. but i have a '68 C20 longbed fleetside that i'm redoing. it has a 250 along with a 4 speed, since someoen didn't like the 3 speed. lol, too bad its a hack job as they put it in...and theres a hole in the floor, a bent shifter, and you can be mezmerized by the drive shaft turning. and well...the cab under the gas tank is gone...but, it has potential. as soon as i get it running...lol, lines are plugged up from rust in the tank. but...soon, it will start. lol. it may just be a fence line truck...or if i get the ambition, as i prolly will, a sweet sweet ride. but..thats all up in the air. whatcha think i should do to this beast? lol, 2x1 progressive carbs are on the way, homemade adapotors and all that...along with headers, which if it isn't going on the road..will remain open off the block :p ....fun stuff i tell you. but yes. opinions adn suggestions.

thanx. SamWise.

Sam, if you don't like the way the 4 speed is installed, I would go with a T-5. It is a fairly easy changeover and the shifter comes up in the middle of the floor (which means patching up the previous hole from the 4 spd) Headers are nice on these and the 2 carb should be a nice setup. I went with a single Holley from Stovebolt on mine. Runs excellent in the shop as it is also going thru a rebuild. Ready for primer and paint now, hopefully in the next month or so we will see how it runs. Just don't go ripping the truck all apart before you get a chance to drive it or it will end up sitting in pieces and you will lose interest in the project. Good Luck

thanx GMDad. yea...i'm looking forward to getting it running at the moment, and see how it handles. just cleaned out the gaslines tonite...and tomrow pulling the carb to clean out the junk. sooo....soon. just looking forward to that 250 cackling to life. lol. then the other modifications.....well, we'll see as soon as it gets running. lol. theres ALOT of body work to be done...just do be legal on the road. haha...but you'll have that when you spend decades of logging and runnign fence lines.

so i'll keep you all up-dated...

SamWise

Always reading never replying. Farmer who has (2) 1953 1 1/2 tons 216's. 66 GMC 2 1/2 302. 61 Chev Apache 10 235 three on the tree. 67 Kaiser/Jeep M715 230 Tornado one of the first w/ overhead cam, supposedly highly prone to failure. It's a modern farm with 33 circle irrigated pivots but these straights just keep running. Most work is done with semis and 10 wheelers but I find a lot of uses for my sixes still. Just can't break em. Project is GMC 302 in the Kaiser/Jeep M715. Glad somebody resparked this post an the truckers came out in droves.

Howdy all. Lurking here a bit. My Chevy C10 w/ 230 & 3spd is my daily driver. I've been working on my '56 Hardtop, and can't get to my truck projects. \:\)

I've got a gas tank to put under the bed and a saginaw 3spd w/ overdrive to keep me busy as soon as my '56 is reliable.
