I was wondering if any 73-87 chevy truck with a 250 came with pwer steering. I'm putting a 250 into my 80 chevy that had a 305 in it and was wondering how the power steering pump and alternator were mounted on there? Thanks in Advance

Yes, a lot of the trucks in those years had power steering. You will have to watch out for the 250 with the Integral style head as that power steering mounts differently. There is a mounting bracket that goes on the front corner of the head on the drivers side along with a brace at the front and the bracket under the pump also serves as the adjusting brace for the alternator, which mounts on a bracket to the bottom oil pan rail on the block. Salvage yard is usually a good place to look in your area as there was not an abundance of these units made and don't always see them advertised for sale.

Mines not the integral head. I made sure I was gonna be able to do a few upgrades if I wanted. I pulled my out of a 67 camaro thatI'm replacing with 327. If anyone has a picture o the 250 with the power steering pump and alternator mounted that would make it alot easier to know what I'm lookin for.

I've got a 79 chevy Stepside that I bought with no power anything, and I was lucky enough to find a donor truck in a salvage yard with the integral head like mine. I got the entire A/C system in one piece, the Power steering system in once piece (didn't disconnect any hoses), and the power Brakes are next. So it can be done, but yeah, they are pretty rare...

I thought I would be able to just swap heads to a non integral but then my friend to me the brackets for the Power Steering and AC would be different so now I am stuck with the integral, because I know finding brackets for accessories on a 6 cyl is pretty impossible!

Here's a recent thread on building your own power steering pump mount for a 292, nice setup

http://www.inliners.org/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=003105

This link is for that auction site. An AC bracket that didn't sell doesn't say what it was off.

The AC bracket has been listed again.

My 2 cents

what your looking for is on ebay item number 160008228729. Doesn't come with pump but you can get new pump at auto parts store. One thing you want to look at is with the 1980 chevys some had metric oring gearboxs and some had flare fittings. I suggest trying to fit your old power steering pump with these brackets that way ythe hoses have right fittings. Good luck on auction as other people are bidding on it.

Don't forget to look at mid 70's GM cars. Some full size Chevy, Buick and Olds used the 250. Also Camaros, Novas, Olds Omega, Pontiac Ventura and Buick (mid size, can't remember the name).
