Hi all,

Has anyone out there replaced there rear springs with an aftermarket kit like the ones from TCI? They describe them as 2 1/2 inch wide springs. The kit includes hangers and all. They say that this is the best for a daily driver, but they claim a 4 inch drop. Too much for me.

I see replacement springs from other vendors that are OEM type with a 2 inch drop.

I need to replace my rears as I had them arched and added 2 extra leafs years ago to carry a camper. The hauling camper days are gone and I want to "make a better ride".

Any comments on either of these options or other options?

Thanks

Luis

Dear Luis;

Try just taking out the 'extra' leaves. Some of the arch will "straighten out" over time W/O them in place.

Check with local Law Enforcememt before "lowering" any motor vehicle, as the laws & enforcement policys vary.

Good luck. \:\)

Walt,

I had that done when I added the extra leaves 20 years ago. Do you think a 50 year old set of springs are worth putting $ into them?

I need a daily driver. I will get new, either the complete thing or just a new set of springs.

Just trying to decide on stock, lowered or the newer wide springs.

Has any one used the lowering shackles is see at the aftermarket parts suppliers.

Thanks for the help

Luis

L;

Removing the "extra" leaves wil drop the height of the bed and it will 'settle' some more in time.

This doesn't require removing them from the truck. Probably an hour (or so) each side and you won't have to buy a thing. \:D

Good luck. \:\)
