Say a feller had a 1965 chevy II with three speed manual on the column and would like to move it to the floor.

I notice there are a few kits available, any partiuclar one better than the other for this application?

I don't know who's kit is better, but I have one on my truck that the P.O. had put in, sort of. The shift rods were of poor quality so I made new ones and put hiem joints (rod end bearings) on the ends. No slop...just snick, snick when it shifts. Took a couple of hours.

Summit sells these: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail...15&autoview=sku
This is just the kit. You'd need to get a shifter and the tranny hump too.

Hurst are still probably the best floor shift kits, even if they are part of Mr. Gasket now. B&M also makes a real good quality shifter too, but I'm not sure that they have one for a 3-speed trans. Take a look at eBay and see what you can find there. I've gotten some fairly good deals on shifters and parts on eBay.

I made this same conversion for my project, 1969 Pontiac OHC Sprint in a 62 Nova. I used a mount that came with a floor shift kit from J.C. Whitney, Mr Gasket #7666.I used a Hurst 3 speed shifter, the one in the kit was less ideal. I modified the mount so that the shifter would come out in the stock location using a floor hump and provide clearance to the floor. I do have pictures if you are interested. If someone could tell me how to post them here I will, or e-mail me.
