Need some help fast.
My grandson has a 65 Mustang with a 200 six and 4 speed trans. He has purchased a T5 trans out of a late model Mustang. He has all the right stuff ordered but his flywheel starter ring is bad. We have been told that the starter ring is no longer available---obsolete. We need a new starter ring or another way to go. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Brad Hawkes

Sometimes, if only the front of the teeth are ground off - and no teeth are missing - you can carefully cut the welds that hold on the ring gear on the flywheel and TURN THE GEAR AROUND so the starter motor pinion has a good gear edge to grab on to. I have done this successfully a couple of times.
