Mike made his first run at Speed Week and suffered engine problems. He did a compression test and found one cylinder had zero compression. He ran the piston up to the top and looked in through the spark plug hole, the piston dome had some rather large cracks in it. That engine has never been apart since it was built in late 1999 or early 2000, no too bad for an engine that is 60 years old, almost as old as I am.

Tough break for the Buick. Amazing that you hadn't torn it down before. That's confidence in what you build. I'm sure MC will be back again.

I helped Mike C. pull the engine out Monday. Pulled the head off and found a hole in the top of #4 cylinder. We are going to contact Venolia and get flat top blower pistons that weigh the same as the old dome pistons.

Well, now the question is,what caused the hole?Just age wear and tear I hope. Also hope the head and valve train look good too.

It looks like it was too lean, but we are not sure at this point yet. We are going finish tearing it down this evening.
