Again I need all your wisdom and techniques.I have a 1954 chevy belair.I removed the hood and springs to replace the motor.I now cannot get rthe springs back on.Has anyone remove them and successfully put them back on.If so what do i need to do to perform this miracle.As always thank you all in advance for your help.

I'm surprised you needed to take it off to put the engine in. I didn't have to on my '53.

Stretch the spring.You can use a floor jack if your careful. Hook one end on the top plte and the other on the jack front axle and carefull open the spring. Then insert washers in between each coil. Hook up your springs to the hood, close the hood and the washers fall out.

thank you for your replys I did find a link that had your washer idea I am going to try it today if not I am going to buy the tool.Again thank you both for quick replys and answers.This site continues to be a blessing to my son and I on our project.
