Great abrasive and good for electrical conduction! Mt Redoubt is spewing away up here in the great white north. Actually we're getting minimal fallout currently and hoping it stays that way! Most of it is blowing too high up and who knows where it's going?! Lots of flights are gettng cancelled, though. I'm all stocked up on air filters and dust masks!

Yes, free, you haul, far, far away prefereably.

Did we forget to mention it's an excellent fertilizer? No, really.

Not much here either (yet).

Where's the stratosphere layer going to land?

Sydney?

How many 'orbits' it'll make before it falls out is the question.

At least the farther it goes the more it will disperse.

Makes for pretty sunsets though.

I wonder if there will be enough to drop the temperatures a touch and further stave off this global warming thing?

As I remember from my Kodiak days, that stuff is really hard on brake shoes and drums! Wears them out fast. S

It's now called climate change!!! Hopefully the ash will fall between TOK and Palmer, the roads have been real slick the last 2 months.

Maybe it'll change the economic climate! Let's see how they figure out how to blame it on Bush and guns.

Nahhh, gotta be Greenspan and the economy \:D (yes, I'm kidding)

We got a light dusting last night. Hard to tell exactly how much as the wind has been blowing.

Tok to palmer huh, not sure how much made it up that way.

Is it to the point that we should carry some extra air filters in our over the road trucks yet?? News in the lower 48 goes between politics and violence and 5 seconds for volcanos. Heading back up on sunday.

Probably not.

I haven't seen much in either K&N (my daily or my pop's).

It's snowed a few times since the dusting (of ash) we got here in ANC. That trapped alot of it. Now we just have to hope for a good rain to thaw it out (so it either washes some away, or into the soil, what of it is on soil ;\) ).

Although I was buying a few parts from the local stealer and there was a service writer there trying to explain why her 'service charge was higher than expected (had to change the air filter 'cause it had ash in it, how much?).

Might not be a bad idea though, cause you never know when it's gonna pop.

I have some of that somewhere, an Aunt 'O mine sent it to me.

Due to the shorter distance (me - Redoubt V/S her - St Hellens) there is a significantly larger proportion of the ash we got that is gritty (about the consistency of beach sand) as oposed to the mostly talc like ash she sent me (our has that too, and I understand that if you were closer to St Hellens there was plenty of the bigger grit there too).
