I have a 66 chevy p.u. 250 engine. turn signals at the rear of the truck are dim. brake lights are also dim. front turn signals are bright. parking lights do not work front or back. sounds like a short somewhere, any ideas. i have ran all new wire to the rear of the truck from the firewall all the way back to the sockets.

The dim lights sounds like the grounding needs to be checked. Jump from a clean ground to the back of the tail light housing or if you have the lens off to the bulb socket. If the lights get brighter that's the problem.

Parking lights weren't factory wired till ???. Some have hook them up on the light switch.

With the head lights on you should have tail lights.

There are three wires, tail lights and each turn signal. Start at the firewall, pull the connector, and see if you have power on the wire that goes to both tail lights.

The orange lights may not come on. The orange lights weren't used as parking lights till the 60s early 70s some where in the time.

A '66 shouldn't have orange lights and they shouldn't come on with the headlights.

Check where the harness plugs in at the firewall...
