I saw a listing on ebay ( item# 300333994790 ) for plans on how to split an exhaust manifold for dual exhaust. Has anyone done this? If so,is it worth the time or is it hype ?

Those plans won’t include the flange, pipe elbow, and fabrication or welding skills so if you lack any of those the booklet won’t do much good but if you know an experienced welder it can be done. In northern climates a split manifold will improve cold start drivability and a search for ”split manifold” on this forum will turn up lot’s of info. I like to think the ones I make are nearly as nice as what came on the Corvette and not the “moanifolds” that are sometimes seen on e bay.

If you are ever interested in doing that using a CNC machined 2” heavy wall gasfitters elbow with a studded and beveled outlet flange bored the same as the stock outlet send me a PM as I have fixtures and programs for those pc’s and can do a batch on short notice.

For anybody that wants to put their welder friend up to this what I did is documented here:

failure in the weld. you can't predict when the cast will crack.i've seen many manifolds crack for no reason. bad cast,in a bind, corrosion.my work is guaranteed.just ask mike yoder of kansas kustoms.

I think when welding cast iron,,the welds wont crack, but next to the welds is where they tend to crack? Yes,,,no??

Do you weld cast iron cylinder heads & guarantee those?

does my add or website say anything about heads, engines? i just do manifolds and i do a very good job of it.i have manifolds running around on some very prestigious hudsons. go over to the het site and ask around. if my manifolds fail due to my welding ability. i fix it.and if i fix it,it's not a failure.a failure is when the producct or service is no longer viable. and i really don't think i should have to defend myself in an open forum . if you know mike yoder of kansas kustoms, call him up and check my ability.

Hey pal, that was a question of if you can weld cylinder heads.

You are looking much too into my simple question.

So now it sounds like you have had a failure & you have fixed them???? So which one is it??

It also seems you are a little wound up too tight, just relax, I am not attacking you,but it seems you are attacking me.

If you have no failure rate, you have nothing to prove to anyone.

But if you weld something & it cracks where you did some work there,,,it is a failure in my book & probably everyone else feels the same way. But that's just a guess.

i thought this was a friendly site...seems like it's a leak over from the hamb....i've had no manifolds ever sent back to me...i don't weld heads or engines.my site says what i do. jeez..you fired the first shot as i see it. my i was invited to come to this site by a group of inliners members from texas that has seen and bought my product. they seemed much friendlier.mercy

if anyone needs a manifold check out my site. if you need a manifold split ,contact me. i don't see any other vendors being put through the third degree to sell on this site. i was invited to come here and be useful..not interogated to the ...as far as i' m concerned i am off this thread sir and you should welcome my talent , i am certified in the state of texas ,i weld everyday, not a hobbyist.
if you don't need or want a manifold ,i see no reason to keep up your interogation as i see it.
i come here to offer my service aand product in good faith and feel you have gone overboard..i'm off this.

I do not think you are supposed to peddle your sevices on the open forum.

There is a for sale section/services.

Sounds like you had a problem over @ the other website? hamb....
Are you friends w/panic?

Just for ther record, I saw your website,,,,& ,,,,,no comment.

Now we hear about items for sale from FL and OH and other places on here, no need to be defensive or take the offensive. Heck it's all for 6's and if you don't like it maybe I will!! At least an effort is being made to keep a parts supply happening and give us choices. My 2 cents.

i also think you both need to lay off the harsh talk. i did say both.
mike at kansas kustoms always did fine work and he was a inliner. and maybe still is.

kraig, why don't you start a new post of your own and describe your services offered. with approx costs. we definately need this for our engines.

i think hank was simply asking a question and then you both got caught up in the moment or something like that.

my question is, after the spliting and the new outlet is welded on have you seen many people have problems with the manifold cracking near the weld at a later date?

if it is welded right .it should last as long as a stock manifold. i have some split manifolds that are 40 years old and never cracked out.they were done right.
