Hello again Friends. I have been gradually collecting parts for my drivetrain -- L6 230 from a '69 Camaro, Flywheel from ?? 153 tooth 13", Clutch plate made by Fort Wayne Drivetrain (10.5" with a 1" x 14 tooth hub), Pressure plate from a '72 Chevy C-10 pickup truck 10.5", tranny from '91 Chevy S-10 (B/W T-5). I have made a couple of small mods to the input shaft and bearing retainer on the T-5 thanks for advice I found on this site. I got a new pilot bushing and a clutch release bearing from the local Advance Auto Parts Store. Now I am having trouble finding the correct Clutch Release Fork lever! The bell housing is from a Chevy Small Block (I am told). Should I look up a part for the L6 230 engine? Or the '72 pickup pressure plate? Or the '91 S-10 Tranny T-5? I was going to try the Dorman 14550 but my local Advance can't get it, don't list it. Help Please! Perley

Nearly every fork made since WW2 COULD be used. but the question is what is this all going into for a vehicle?
If its a '72 truck, then try using a fork for a '72 truck...

Well thanks Gearhead, you see that's my dilemma! That whole collection of parts and pieces is going to reside in a '29 Essex Coupe one day! It's a collection of parts, as stated in my thread post. Inline six from a 69 camaro and a 153 tooth flywheel from ??? maybe a Camaro, maybe a SBC, maybe even a 72 pickup, don't know. Pressure plate is from a 72 pickup and fits the holes in the flywheel (10.5"). Then the B/W T-5 tranny from the '91 S-10. So should the fork be for the 69 Inline 230 motor, or the SBC bellhousing, or the 72 pickup pressure plate, or for the S-10 tranny? My bellhousing is a GM 3858403 which is supposed to fit SBC, BBC, Inline Chevy, and God knows what else. Perley

Maybe a visit to the local salvage yard would yield a suitable fork or an application to ask for at the parts store.

Did you try other parts stores? I found a part only available at Advance and took the Part Number to Oreilly's, who did not have it on their list... but they ordered it for me by part number. Try some other parts stores. Look for the old guy.

As for building a streetrod, you need to decide what type of actuation you are going to use. Often it is easier to go with a hydraulic slave cylinder setup rather than mechanical linkage. To determine what to use, you need to have everything installed in the chassis, and have the body on the frame so you can figure out the floor and firewall issues at the same time. Will the pedals go through the floor of hang down under the dash? It's not just about what fork to use... Most forks are stamped sheetmetal. Any one of them will do for initial mockup. If you want a forged fork, go with a 50's-60's truck, they are on Ebay all the time. here's a quick search http://www.classicparts.com/searchprods.aspHere's some ideas for a hydraulic setup http://www.novak-adapt.com/catalog/clutch_components.htmDoing a search onEbay for " clutch fork chev* " will give you some ideas as to what's available. You are most likely going to have to just pick one you think will work and start the mockup process. Worst case is you end up buying a second one once you have the whole setup figured out.

Gooday Caroline & Jim & Lucinda our 3104 51-3100 inliner @ 4655 small wheel moves by fire and rod, big wheel moves by the grace of god, every time that wheel turns round, bound to cover just a little more ground.
