Hello all. I just want say thank you for help with other postings. Can you put a flywheel off a 250 on a 292? The reason is, I have a 81 250 which I started to work on and it fell off the stand and had some major damage. So I went out and bought a 292 with some performance parts. Being a frugal man, I want to use as much of the existing parts which I bought for the 250. Manual flywheel and clutch is the new parts which I bought before the damage

Thanks

Ted

Yes, but you may need to drill out the mounting holes.

You don't say what size the flywheel is, but the bellhousing and starter are made to work with one size flywheel or the other. Make sure its all for the same size...

I have a 12" fly wheel with a 12" clutch. The concern that I have is. The 250 is balanced while the 292 has an external balancer so I don't know if the 250 flywheel will work on a 292

Big Bald,
The 292 and 250 are both internally balanced.

One difference for the 292 can depend on the year it was made. Early 292 engines 63-66 used 7/16 bolts and 1 dowel to locate the flywheel. Later 292 67 and later user 1/2" bolts and 3 dowels to locate the crank.

Which 292 do you have by looking at the bolts? Tom
