How close are the engine mounts on the 4200 compared to stock 250 or 261 mount locations? I'm looking at a used 4200 engine and transmission (4l60e) came out of a wrecked, low mileage (5000 mi), 2005 Trailblazer that has the ecm and wiring but don't have a lot of time to do major fabrication work now. The printed specs say the length and width are fine for a '58 Chev.

The 4200 factory mounts are more like a LS type than the early style.

Does the chassis have mid-70's type engine mounts on the cross-member?

It now has stock 235 mounts in a '58 sedan delivery chassis.

I can't help too much as I'm not pre-1964 conversant... you most likely need to fabricate the mounts though.

The mounting pattern varies slightly from left to right. The pass. side has one bolt offset.

If you start with 2 pc's of 4"x6"x 3/16 or 1/4 plate it'll get you started.

I'm currently working on engine mounts for a 4200 in a '54 Chev sedan delivery. I'm using the stock 4200 upper mount brakets and biscuits (they're large & tall) and fabbing the lower mounts. If any pictures would help, let me know.

Any pix will help, I'm willing to fab mounts, I just won't have time to make crossmembers or cut present crossmembers and reinforce. I'm hoping to use as many stock components as possibble including oil pan and the hopefullly plug and play electronics.

Here are the best photo's that I could find showing the stock upper mount. That big bulbous black thing is the large rubber 'biscuit' that I was talking about.

I also included the one showing the front sump oil pan that I doubt you'll be able to use.
