I am considering adding aftermarket gauges to keep tabs on the engine, temp, oil pressure and either volts or amps.

My questions are these:

1. Mechanical or electric?
2. Volts or amps gauge?
3. Opinions on vintage looking 3 gauge clusters to fit under the dash

Thanks,
Paul

I bought an old style mechanical black face, chrome ring set by Mallory off of EBay years ago.Oil prssure, water temp, volts. Didn't quite look 50's, but ok with me. They still show up occasionally.

I like mechanical Temp and Pressure gauges, but wires are easier to keep out of the way than tubes. I don't like plastic tubes. If you still have a generator I'd use an amp meter. If you've changed to an alternator use a volt meter. Mr. Gasket still sells the 3 gauge panel I think. Three gauge sets are offered everywhere. I like them because they are easy to read, easy to install, easy to replace if need be, and cheap compared to the fancy stuff. Tom

X2 on fleabay for the actual vintage stuff.

IIRC SW recently (re?)released some gauges that look like their vinatage stuff from the front. I haven't seen any up close though so I couldn't tell you how they look in rel life.

You might also check out the http://www.mooneyesusa.com web site. Moon not only has a number of gauges (individual as well as sets), but they also have various under-dash mounting plates. Don't know if they will give you the "back in the day" look you're after but it's probably worth checking out. I also took a look at Eelco's site but they don't seem to have what you're looking for.
