Is it too difficult to use the Vortec five?
I don't see much interest in them even after
GM built a '48 pickup with a 3500, six years
ago. Is the five too specific to the OEM
chassis? Others have commented that the
usuable torque is at a higher speed than
an older two valve motor.

If you remove the plastic covers on the top,
maybe put a dummy flathead cover over it and
the five looks kind of retro. If no one
is using the five, a 3700 probably won't cost
so much at salvage yards. I don't know of
any aftermarket harnesses for them.
