Thanks for posting it. It IS BIG BIG news when any Major Mfg makes a new part for an inline engine, even this most popular motor. I personally have a MrHotRod6 Stinger HEI but I still think we should have a section to list all manufactures parts available by Brand and type of Motor: say Ford 250; Ignition, internal engine , external engine etc.

Then I could browse and compare whats available for my particular Motor say I wanted a Distributor or Manifold. I know we all do this individually but I think it would be well traffic and provide some good info for all of us?

I just attended a 2 day HAMB ignition class and it was great. Bubba's hot rod shop will convert your stocker 235/261 distributor to HEI using machined Chrysler Reluctor and pick up with a GM module. I did mine at the class and then ran it up to 7000 rpm just for fun and it worked great. had a printout of the spark too. I think their cost to re-do it is about $150, or buy the parts and do it yourself.

We also reworked the stock points distributors and the 235's really are good units. I dont mind points so I found it interesting.

After this class, I'll never buy another distributor

I dont recall seeing any of his stuff in a magazine. I only saw it on the hamb. They did a couple points rebuilds for me and they turned out great so I thought I'd attend the class to get a better understand of the whole ignition system.

What magazine were you thinking it was in?

It was a low production rag, I don't recall the name (and in a quich search I didn't find it).

I remember it crediting some of the hardware to one of the Hambers (specifically a HEI module mount that looked like half a ribbed aluminum ignition coil cover).

Might'a been GMC Bubba's stuff, might not (not that good a memory).

If I run across it any time soon, I'll post what mag it was.

Thats exactly what we used - that hei module in the half ribbed cover. I think the cover came from Dickster, and all the hei guts came from GMC Bubba - great memory you got there, sir!!

This is a great topic. I currently have a Crane Cams setup on my 194, somewhat similar to the Pertronics set up, but am seriously considering a good HEI set up. One that I don't have to mess with -- no phasing in, adjusting, etc. Any good suggestions on a good HEI, coil, etc.? Just daily driver/street use, but good performance...

James, I agree with you. It would be a great benefit to us. I have suggested this in the past. This is the largest group devoted totally to inline engines and yet there is an element of secrecy that doesn't allow much information about available products to be listed or even talked about in some cases. Not for free any way. Beater

Beater,

Lets post it somewhere else then.

It's not hard to list all manufactures and all of their part and then to sort by engine type. If we dont have it all I am sure people will chime in.

Let's share the wealth, this way Manufactures will support the site too.

Moderator please take this to the top! I will bring it up elsewhere if we need to.

I would love to see support for all of the inliners in their own parts quest,

James

I think we need to try to make it happen here first. This place has the most guys with the most information. I feel that the problem is that a few, far too few, vendors were advertisers in the Twelve Port News and when this BB was formed they were brought along. Out of respect for them rules were put in place to give them first shot at us. Thats OK in a way but it gets in the way of members finding what we need at the best price. The lump port wars alone point this out. It needs to be fixed but I don't know how. I'm sure we all have lots of web addresses for people who like our business. One part of the problem is that as a club web site I don't think any one person is empowered to make huge decisions. Tim does a good job for us but I think they fear loosing the few sponsors we have. Why would they pay if others got listed for free. It's one of those dilemma deals. We should discuss it with Tim first for sure. Beater

I thought I had read some where, but of course can't find it now, that this web forum will be part of the discussion during the businees portion at the upcoming Inliners National 2010 Convention in Texas. You can offer suggestions for improvment to the National Club officers by email prior to the convention if you like. You must be a paid up Inliners Club Member.

The Inliners Board of Directors set up the 'no advertising' policy long before I became Webmaster, and there are still a lot of strong feelings among some members for this policy. I will have to admit, I think it is an outdated mindset that if someone pays to advertise that they 'own' the site. However, as a Club officer, I will enforce the ruling.

Drew is right on that there will be a rather interesting 'discussion' at the Convention open board meeting, as those who were at the last convention will recall happened there.

The proper way to address your feelings on this matter is, first off, join us at Inliners International as a paid up member, then petition the Club officers with reasons you think the policies in place should be retained, or changed. In this day and age email is the preferred way to communicate, but nothing else has the impact of correspondence through the US Mail. The listing for the Club Officers is in the sidebar menu.

June is coming up fast, make your reservations soon, you will not regret attending an Inliners Convention.

Tim

Drew, I remember reading that too. I think Titen posted it. This would not be as simple as it seems. If everyone could post someone would have to keep it organized and weed out the links to porn sites and such. Everyone is not as pure as we are. Remember the action photos that showed up a couple of years ago, when the server was being changed I think? There would also be the sniping from those who for some reason don't like a certain company or product, but we would want to know who is selling junk. It may take another moderator and that might not be an easy spot to fill. A good list of our suppliers needs to be somewhere. There is a lot more out there than many of us know about. Would it be limited to just inline engine stuff? Beater

I guess Tim was working while my fingers were fumbling through that. That is what we need to do. Thanks Tim.
