Is there any reason we can't run SBC guideplates? They sell them for 3/8" pushrods. What doesn't fit about them?

The pushrods are farther apart compared to a SBC. Stud spacing is futher apart.

Use oldsmobile guide plates. You may have to open them up to 3/8

56er, the Olds quide plates are for 5/16 pushrods as Tom said; the mounting holes for the plates are also undersized and require opening up to 7/16 for the screw in studs....the Comps that I used are hardened and "opening them up" turned out to be a chore (hard on tooling). Isky makes an adjustable quide plate for the SBC that will widen enough to fit the 6 cylinder valve centers; I'm going to try that route on the next head to reduce the hassle......fats

Thanks, guys. I went out to the garage last night, realized I had a set in a box leftover from a 355 build. I held them up over the studs, and felt kinda dumb. Speedway has a cheap set of adjustables for sbc that are 5/16", I might try a set of those to see if they fit, then drill them out. The good news is I also found a set of K-motion valvesprings in the same box I'd forgotten I had that will work with my cam, so I don't have to buy valvesprings!
