I am new to this site.
I have a 1955 chevy bel air with a 235 inline 6. I installed a powermaster alternator that I purchased from Danchuk. The alternator does not charge at idle. I contacted Powermaster about this problem and they said that no alternator will charge at 450 engine rpm. and they left it at that. I can't be the only person that is running a stock 235 with an alternator upgrade.
The alternator I installed is a 3 wire using the gen light in the dash, and it is wired as per the instructions that was supplied with the alternator.
The alternator will charge above 700 engine rpm but when I let the engine idle (450 RPM) the alternator output decreases to around 12.85v.
Can anyone lend some help with this.

Is it possible for you to install different pullies to increase the rpm of the alternator?
Welcome BTW!.
