Has anyone attempted to rebuild a manual steering gear? Mine is getting a lot of 'play' in it. It had very little play when we first put the truck on the road, but over the last 10K miles, it has gotten worse - it moves from 10-2 o'clock before the sector shaft rotates and now the sector shaft is moving up and down about an 1/8" before it begins to rotate.

If yes, where can I find parts?

If at first you don't succeed,
then read the directions and try again.

I got all the parts needed to rebuild my'46 p/u from Mac's. I had to replace the worm gear and bearings and re-shim the shaft. Set the preload in the middle of the sector gear travel.

Probably all it needs is adjusting.
