Hello everyone!

I was recently reading an older SUPER CHEVY magazine and saw a Pontiac L6 OHC engine used in a ad.

I was wondering if anyone on here has used one of these engines?
They seem like they could be pretty stout little engines! OHC and all!

Just curious!

Get hold of Dick - blackopel.com

They ran one in the opel for a few years and Dick knows these engines inside out.

Tom Langdon @ Stovebolt is another who has a long history with these engines. He is also very informative and easy to talk with.

I think there is a buildup in the webrodder series on these engines that discusses problem areas and hopup strategies.

Edit: Found it. Page 22 in the tech articles.

In the fall of of 68 I ordered a 1969 Firebird Sprint. That summer I took it to Cordova Dragway Park to test it. I was put in "MS" class according to HP, weight and manual 3 speed transmission. The other four cars were 327, 4 speed Chevys. I would leave them the first half of the track but they would eventually catch me. I should have spent the extra $100 for the 4 speed option. After several winters in northwest Illinois, the body started to rust out. I removed the engine and transmission, then hade the body hauled off, at that time body parts were scarce. The engine is now sitting in a 62 Nova 4 door waiting to be finished after 2 moves. I do have pictures if I can figure out how to attach them. The engine still runs hard, it was rebuilt several years ago. It had 3 sets of broken rings so I had it bored .060. The top end has not been off since then, I had to move the oil sump and pickup to the middle to fit into the Nova.
There is a video of that engine running on an engine stand, go to Google Video and type " Pontiac OHC ". It is part way down the page listed as "1969 Pontiac OHC engine".

Hey Carl,
Cordova is not too far from where I grew up. I can remember going there as a kid. I'm from Muscatine, living in Ames IA currently.
There are a lot of Us inliners in this part of the country...Cool!
