Does anyone know if a typical SBC roller lifter (with the arms to tie them into pairs) will work in our 250 inlines?

I know that the cam lobes have a taper to make a standard lifter rotate, which is why I am thinking about the ones that are tied together... stop the rotation!

I am wrong to think that the roller would wear that taper off the lobes, in turn reducing the amount of lift? With that said, would it be best to get a roller cam?

Just a thought!

Like panic said, only roller lifters can be used on a steel billet roller cam. No, SBC roller lifters will not work in these 6 cylinders, the link bars are too short and so is the lifter body, only roller lifters made for the 6 cylinders with the correct link bar length and body height will work in them.

IIRC, the iron Duke engine, Pontiac Fiero inline 4 engine uses the same lifters? They have the same spacing.

Along the same subject. Any body know where to get a roller cam for a 250 six? I have been searching and can't seem to run across any vendors. I have found where I can get roller lifters and roller rockers (summit racing) but can't seem to find a cam. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

Try Lunati directly, I obtained a roller cam and lifters for a 292 from them many moons ago. If not try contacting the other cam companies directly since they don't catalog stuff for inlines but can supply them to order if billet blanks are available.. Summit or Jegs or any other supplier will not carry them.

Make sure the lifters are truly for an Inline 6 and not for the run of the mill SBC, they will not work. Crower has/had roller cam blanks on the shelf up until a year ago, if they still have any, be ready to spend close to $700 for just the cam, make sure you can get lifters before you buy the cam.....
