I did a quick search and couldnt find what I was looking for. Is there much aftermarket support for 4200 swaps in our earlier cars? Mounts, induction, computer support? Who has done one in a 49-52 chevy passenger car?

The short answer is no. Most of what you are looking is Do-it-yourself. EFI-DIY has done a ton of legwork as far as performance and mounting one in an early truck. Limequat has pretty much mastered the OEM wiring harness and ECM issues. Other than that, invest into a good welder, grinder, and big hammer.

Who has done one in a 49-52 chevy passenger car? I know of 2 swaps that are either in progress or planned into this year/style car. Without a chassis to measure up its kind of hard to design a mount for retro-fits. That said I do have the block side mounting plates designed and could get some water-jet cut. If your interested drop an email.

Yep, there's a couple under the projects forum at vortec4200.com. Seems pretty straight forward after the oil pan and wiring is sorted.

Who has done one in a 49-52 chevy passenger car? What's your stock engine? If someone could design up coversion mounts for a popular engine, I'd like to stock them on lime-swap. 250 => 4200 or 292 => 4200.

The "stock engine" in a '49-'52 Chevrolet is a 216 cid "stovebolt" -- the same engine from 1937-1952. Powerglide-equipped cars had a 235 with babbit bearings -- a bridge between the 216 and the later, full-pressure 235. The '54 235 slips right into a 1952 passenger car.
The mounts for a 4200 conversion would be truly interesting to several folk, even including me. With a stock suspension, the oil pan is an obvious issue.
God's Peace to you.

I think I have access to a chassis and will be working on the mount design this winter.
Maybe I'll make up an swap kit including oil pan (currently have 1 in stock) oil pickup and the mounts. That would eliminate the headache of getting the engine into the chassis.
With Limequat's harness and PCM the rest is straight forward engine swap stuff like rad hoses etc.
