I'm in the process of building a .060 over 292 and got to talking to an experienced 6 cylinder guy about harmonic balancers.
He made a comment about they used to use 327 balancers with no problems.
Crank snouts are the same O.D but any potential problems in going with a balancer designed for a different engine?

Things you will need to do.
1) add a pulley to the dampener
2) cut the snout
3) or machine the crank gear

Why not use a new damper designed for the 292? See this previous post:

The main reason was cost. The other was that we just need one pulley groove.
We talked about the need to have the snout trimmed down (as Larry pointed out) and possibly the stock tdc mark on the 327 balancer might have to move.

When ever you change dampeners Or some?? timing covers you should check that the timing marks line up where they should to start with.ESP. if you change the dia.
