tips for successful break in of cams and proper settings of lifters i am running tomes combo(medium lift cam hydraulic lifters and larger valve combo)

just got to reading about break in and set up

first i guess the major question on the internet if to remove the inner spring or to not remove? i have a small spring compressor but the head is installed (as i read this paper too late) \:\/

second the proper way to set up hydraulic lifters

third tom are your rocker arms adjustable if so do you just set all of the inner allen head bolts the same and adjust your lifters from there?

i'm very confused on how this goes

The inner springs on yours are just dampers, no need to remove.

My rockers are adjustable.

Here is the way I like to do it.

Take the harmonic damper and mark TDC as zero degrees, another mark at 120 and another at 240.

Next, put engine on compression stoke TDC on #1
Adjust both valves by loosening inner lock hex bolt in poliloc. Turn nut down till pushrod begins to move lifter cup or zero lash is found by wiggling pushrod. Then turn nut in a additional 1/2-3/4 turn.
Turn engine over 1/3 revolution or to next 120 degree mark. Perform same procedure to next cylineder in firing order.

Contiue till done.
Be sure to lock all of the polilocs.
Be sure to run a jug of GM EOS in your oil for breakin.

Engine oil supplement (Part number 88862587)

EOS - Engine Assembly Prelube
Specifically formulated as an engine assembly lubricant. E.O.S. provides outstanding protection against run-in wear and piston scuffing as well as run-in camshaft lobe and lifter scuffing resulting from insufficient lubrication.

Is the zddp or zinc additive (EOS) used for proper break-in recommended for continued use or is today's motor oil good enough for routine use?

I'm using DELO400 in the engines I'm concerned about it, more because of the stronger corrosion inhibitor package (detergent package they have is nice too \:\) ).

The poli locs are locked with the allen set bolt located inside the Nut.

Sam, I use GM EOS as a whole jug with new cam and add a partial jug at oil changes.

Harry how does the tube bolt right up if the bolt that holds the main down is replaced by a stud?
