The stock valve cover on my '54 235 has some slots in the top, presumably for crankcase ventilation. I've notice that many of the chrome aftermarket valve covers have no slots, including the one I just bought. Has anyone on the board used these? I'm a little concerned about lack of crankcase ventilation causing sludge formation in the oil.

54, Just use a ventilated oil fill cap to achieve the same result.

Urrr, why didn't that immediately occur to me? Of course. Now I've got to find one that won't hit the hood on a '54 Corvette...

Thanks.

You can flip the valve cover 180 degrees to get the filler under the back part of the hood if you need to.
