Seems to be a pretty simple swap get the early s10 t5 with cable speedo and bolt it up? Ive read some threads that say no adapter needed and others that say you will need one?

My s10 t5 didn't have the Chevy bolt pattern so I made an adapter the adapter made up the 3/8" shaft length difference. It will bolt up if it has the Chevy pattern but you have to shorten the from of the shaft. May have to search for a clutch plate depending on spline count.

I have tried searching for a swap thread for a 270/302 and can not find one, do you happen to have the link?

All the article seems to cover is the gear ratios and a little about a 235 swap, I am asking as I know the 235 and 270 have a totally different flywheel.

I forgot to say that mine is on a '55 270. 6 bolt flywheel, 11" clutch. An old swap for the 4 bolt crank was to use a '39 Chevy 216 flywheel because it was lighter.

Looks like I can get a adapter off eBay, what clutch did you end up using?

I really don't remember. It depends on the spline on the input shaft. I was working at CarQuest and I remember looking through the books for something with a hub that would fit within the center recess of the flywheel & clear the bolts. So, I doubt if it is the standard early GM spline. Probably close to 20 years ago.

A friend posted this on another site. I think it has the information you need to deal with the clutch issue.

Yes, The part about the Jeep input shaft solves the clutch plate issue and trimming the pilot shaft & input bearing housing fixes the difference in length. Not mentioned because it may not be an issue is the throwout bearing. There is a long & short version that comes into play withs some swaps.
