I put tis in the wrong spot this morning. I want everyone to see it.

Our Chapter will meet on Friday 8/5 evening to watch the cruse in Victorian Way in Sparks at the Nugget. It's a tradition. All Inliners & regular people are welcome to join us. Here is a notice Vicki Jewell sent out. See you there!

It's time to get together in Sparks for a night of classic car cruising. We will be meeting at the northwest corner of the Nugget Casino on Victorian Ave in Sparks. Some of us get there around 5:00 PM to reserve an area along the street to watch the cruising. The cruising starts around 7:00 PM and lasts until 9:00 PM. After the cruising finishes, we will go to eat dinner inside the Nugget at the Oyster Bar (around 8:45 - 9:00 PM).

Bring your folding chairs to watch the cruising more comfortably, or you can just stand. Parking is always a challenge, but there is a City of Sparks Parking Garage one block north of our hangout area on Victorian Ave. To get to the parking lot, you can follow our directions below, or just look at the map below:

1.) Take the Pyramid Hwy Exit off of I-80

2.) Head north on Pyramid a half block and take the first left onto Ave of the Oaks.

3.) Continue on Avenue of the Oaks for two blocks and then take a right on Victorian Plaza Circle.

4.) Continue Victorian Plaza Circle - it will loop around to the back of the parking garage and then take a left to enter the FREE parking garage. No tickets necessary, just go in!

** Alternative parking options include all the side streets surrounding the Victorian Square area, and the Nugget Parking lot (which is also free, but often full)

Last night was fun. We spoke with several potential new members some local. Counting Inliners, family & friends there were almost 20 of us watching the cruse. Lots of great cars. Many different interest were on display. My son & I spent most of the day at the swap meet where he almost nought a '60 Falcon wagon with a six. I found some rust we didn't want to deal with but it was a cool looking little car. It was a nice day and most were in good spirits after the past two days of rain. I resisted buying much more shop filler. I just got 5 small pieces and a bundle of scuff pads. I'm proud of me. I saw a guy that was at the little swap meet we had last week and the spotlight I snuck into his stuff there was on his table. We laughed about it but he didn't offer to give it back. laugh

I was a fun but long day. I left here around 6:30 AM and got home a little after midnight. Sorry I didn't get pictures there were some really great inlines present and people who were proud if them. One thing for sure there were far more inline survivors than V8s! smile Chevy, GMC,Ford, Hudson, Studebaker, Hudson, MOPAR, Buick,Jeep, Toyota, Nissan, Kaiser, Nash, International.....................still running. A group of friends & I once entered our old GM trucks & pickups in the Nevada Day parade sorta' mocking an F100 group here with a sign that said: "All the Fords have been resurrected & the GMs haven't even died yet!" laugh

Pretty sure we'll pick up at least 2 new members even if I have to front their first year's dues. One nice young family with a low buck '49 Plymouth lowrider, far more $$$ in bags & compressor than in the engine or body work. cool

To be fair none of the targeted Fords had inline engines. My brother & I went with my dad on a trip from Happy, Texas to Crystal Lake, Illinois to tow a big grain dryer back to the grain elevator where Dad ran a shop. We used the company's '53 Ford F100 with a six. Other than the ice & snow and two Oklahoma state troopers who couldn't read a tape measure the trip went well. The pickup had enough power just needed more traction.
