I have a 250 with an Offy valve cover. I wanted to install a PCV valve and so I had the rear of the cover machined to accept a Moroso PCV valve grommet #68782 and installed a Fram PCV valve #FV237. I connected this to the rear port of my Edelbrock 500cfm carb by way of a piece of tubing. My problem is that I seem to be sucking up a lot of oil into my intake. On removing my intake, clean oil justs drips out of the ports. I know the oil is coming through the PCV set up but I'm not sure how to correct it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Al

You need some type of baffle.
If you look at a stock steel cover there should be a piece of boxed tubing mounted to the underside of the valve cover where the pcv valve is.
I believe you could fab a piece like that or cut the spot welds & install it on the alum cover w/short screws?

Thats because you have no baffle under the PVC valve. They do make one that fits and it and has a small slit in the bottom so that the PVC will not su*k out the oil. I think it was mrgasket who has this. The marine covers have a long metal baffle that reach down in between the rockers. but i know that doesn't help you any.

Thanks for your responses. The Moroso grommet does have a baffle. It is like a tube with a split in the end. A friend of mine runs one in his V thingy and it works fine. Could there be too much suck from the carb?

The tube with a split in the end needs an actual baffle to protect it from oil splash. It sounds like what you have is like a breather with a grommet in the top for the PCV.

I think i'll take Hank's idea and try and fit the factory baffle to the Offy cover. Thanks for your suggestions.

If your Offy cover has 2 breather caps like mine, simply plug it (manifold/valve cover) & forget it.

It's just extra hose 'hanging around' anyway.
