A little background:
1972 Chevrolet Nova
stock 250 cid
Offy 3x1 and Langdon's headers w/ dual exhaust
Stock driveshaft and Powerglide

Question:
Will a 72' short shaft TH350 bolt up
without driveshaft modification?

A TH 350 is used to replace the Powerglide all the time, in different models & years etc.

You'll need to change out the converter & flywheel and the linkage is different too.

If you contact Larry/Novaman/Twisted 6, he will have all the exact numbers on that swap.

I think; it would be better to go with one of the 3 speed + OD automatics, rather the TH 350. The conversion is about the same and the 'end result' much better.

Good luck. \:\)

Dear Matt;

Walt brings up a good point.

An 'all orginal' car brings more money at sale and if the trans (Powerglide) is "rebuilbable" It's best to stay with it.

There's a lot to consider.

Happy trails. \:\)

Even though I feel a HUUUUGE difference in overall performance with the intake and exhaust modifcations, I was hoping by swapping in the TH350 would give me more "off-the-line" acceleration.

A turbo 350 will be much better than a Glide.
Better yet will be a 200R4.
Keep the PG on the side if you do want to sell it as far as having all the OG parts, a different trans will not make a difference in the value in your car w/a 350 or a glide(easy to swap back ,if need be) as long as you keep the glide on the side
you will not loose a dime on the resale value.
