T-5 trans from an S-10 or Camaro seem to popular and there are a lot of them out there. 5th gear overdrive should work nice with the 3.73 for cruising.

I am running a 700R4 behind a 250 in my 41 Plymouth and it works very well. I have a 3.50 rear gear. With a mild cam, carburetion, and good ignition you would have a surprising street rod that will mess with peoples minds. This is just another option if you don't like to shift gears on a 5 speed.

Been there, Done that, Hope to live long enough to do it again.
