Was thinking of replacing my old stock coil on my '71 Chevy 250. Has anyone here used a Bosch Blue Coil as a replacement. I used to use them in my VW Bugs and they worked good. Unfortunately I don't know anything about the stock coil on my Chevy 250. Some info I found on the web about the Bosch Blue coil is it's rated at 18KV or a ratio of 150:1 It will deliver a maximum voltage of 18,000 when fully cycled up and is internally ballasted. Will this work with a totally stock '71 Chevy 250 with good ole points in the dizzy?

With a mild engine the stock coil will work fine and the new coil won't do a thing for you except make your wallet lighter. In fact MSD says you can use the stock GM coil with a lot of their ignition boxes.

Thanks Ron, nuff said. I guess I'll stick with the stock coil. Nothing wrong with holding onto my money I guess!
