Hello all,
maybe this has been answered before but I could not find any posts on it. What is the rear end ratio in a 235/3speed overdrive 1956 half ton truck?
I have not been able to find it anywhere, I was told by a friend they had 4.11 in them.
Thank you all for any help you can give.

It's hard to say exactly what you have. You can get a good idea by jacking up the rear axle and spinning the tire. If it is a posi you'll have to get both tires off the ground. Mark the tire and the drive shaft. Turn the wheel twice and count the number of times the drive shaft rotates. In fifty years what it had and what it's got is hard to say.

GM Manual says 4:11 for OD rear, 3:70 for std. rear, but as Larry points out, it's better just to check it yourself.
