Running dual 5200s 32/36 two barrels on my 261, running great after playing with larger jets on secondary side.
My question to you Holley experts out there, do these jets interchange with any other Holley carbs?? Also these came with "water heated only" chokes(NOT ELECTRIC) which I'm not going to run because I really don't want additional plumbing/hoses etc. Have electrics also but would really like manual chokes if I can find any, local parts houses are no help. Any clues, parts sources etc. would be appreciated.

The good message first: you only have to choke one carb if you have a heated intake. when you remove the water/electric choke unit from the one carb there is a little hole for vacuum . Make sure to close that with a plug. Otherwise it drives you nuts when you try to tune them. (took me a complete weekend and a solid use of 4 letter words to find out) There is a manual conversion kit aviable: http://www.piercemanifolds.com/linkage.htm hope this helps, Frank ------------------ LIVING IN THE PAST TODAY http://www.TheSavoy.de

That is a great website for Weber parts. The new carbs that Stovebolt sells, the Holley Weber (I think they are from early Vega's and Pinto's) are they considered a 32/36 carb? It has a R6666-1 stamped on the base of the carb. Just wanted to find out what carb I have before I talk to them. I am looking for a thicker base gasket/spacer as we made up an aluminum adapter plate to mount this carb to the Edelbrock manifold then cross-drilled it for manifold water heat. Hopefully it will work once I get the clearance problem on the pump lever corrected.

For you guys running the Holley-Weber staged 2 barrel with an automatic transmission: Did you ever run into the problem of the engine wanting to bog just before the tranny downshifted? As in passing a car or similar situation were you just stomped on the gas. I was running one carb with a Powerglide on a stock 194. Seemed like throttles were swinging open before transmission down shifted, so it would kind of bog, catch, and go again. Car ran ok, mileage was ok after tinkering with jets and air bleeds. Never got that completely resolved before I parked the car. Maybe the secondary was still too lean?

GMDad, According to the "Holley 5200 Carburetor Handbook" by Mike Urich, HP Books, most model are 32/36. The author also states that flow is more important the Than venturi dia.,,, ya so what about throttle bore, anyway. "When first introduce it came in only one size 270 CFM at 3 inches of mercury. In 1978 a 235-CFM model was introduced on Ford and Mercury 4-cylinder engines, with a 23mm primary venturi and 27mm secondary. Since 70 Chevettes have been equiped with a 245-CFM model with primary secondary venturis of 23mm and 29mm." Thanks for model numbers. "5200 introduced on on the 2.0 liter German Ford used in the Pinto, also used on the V6 and 4-cylinder Capri, Mustan II and Cortina. The 5210 was introduced on the L-11 performance version of the 2.3 Liter Vega. In 1977, the 5210 was used on the the new Pontiac 2.5 liter "Iron Duke" and the 2.0 Liter Audi four used in the AMC Grmlin. In 1978, the 5220-same basic family- was introduced on the 1.7 Liter VW/Audi engine in the Dodge Omni and Plymouth Horizon." The handbook is a little sparse on spec.s Hope this helps.

I was looking at the carb a little closer and it has MOTORCRAFT stamped on the choke housing but I have had no luck trying to chase down the R6666-1 Holley number in the books that we have at work. I have the adapter plate pretty well finished up, just need a couple of fittings to plumb it and hopefully will have it running by the weekend.

question for all you guys running offy 2X1 with staged holley /webers on a 235. How is the power at low rpms. Did you lose any power off the block by changing from a 1bbl to 2 2bbls? Also how often do you have to tune these puppies?

No problem if you have a stock or mild (3/4)cam. Tuned them once with a vacuum gauge they run great on the 235 (dual offy) sice then. Great milage too.
You might get to lean when you overdo it with tha cam.
