I have a 1965 chevy II/nova with a 194ci chevy engine out of a '66 chevelle. These are the following parts i am getting for it.-A mild street performer cam with lifters for $134 from napa autoparts,a 32/36 DGV 5A weber 2bbl. carb with manual choke for $229.66,a base gasket for the carb for $2.99,a ?float? for it for $19.95--do I need this? The air filter with container for the carb for $19.95 and full gaskets and rings for whole engine for $27. For a total of roughly $433.37. Now what I wanted to know is if I need anything else. I think I need an adapter for the weber carb, were do I find this and how much? Also what is the float for the carb? do I need it? Last question, what is the CFM on that weber carb and is it suitable, it appeared to be. Thanks if anyone can reply soon, as I am buying this stuff on monday or this weekend. Also, if anyone knows cheaper places let me know.

That is a great carb however, the Holley/Webber version is available from Langdon's Stovebolt for under $100 (factory rebuilt). Or off of Ebay also, listed for Ford 4 and 6 cyl motors as the 5200 series.
From what I've read, Holley got the contract from Webber to mfg these in the US, many parts interchange. I'm running two of these on my 261ci motor, have increased secondary jet size and still needs more tweaking but running really strong. Nice to be running 'new' carbs for a change vs. the headache of fighting with old worn out stuff. Langdon has also just listed another version of this carb, check out his online catalog and give him a call. Tom has been selling these for inline motors for quite some time, has adaptors and air cleaners also. He should be able to get the correct carb for your application. As to CFM, my Holley book rates the 5200 at 270 cfm.

were can I find an adapter so I can put that 32/36 weber carb on my 194ci? The engine is out of a 66 chevelle, but is in my 1965 chevy II. Do I need one? Need to know fast because I am getting them soon. thanks for any replies.

Again, Langdon's Stovebolt website shows the adaptors. And, yes you need one as your Webber is a four bolt and your bolting to a two bolt manifold. There are several other online parts houses that handle all the pieces you'll need like air cleaner, jets etc etc. Here's a Webber store, www.piercemanifolds.com

ok. It looks to be like I need a new intake manifold, and maybe headers to fit the carb. Now is there any place that sells the whole package together that fits my engine, such as elelbrok, carter, holley? What will I need to complete this? does holley, carter, or edelbrock make a 2bbl carb that will work? thanks, sorry for all the questions.

i don't want the adapter because it restricts flow.

I'm in the same boat as yourself. I've looked at the Langdon's Stovebolt site and they have a 2 or 3 carb setup manifold. But if you want a 2bbl setup, you'll have to get the adapter part from their site as well.

I plan to upgrade to a Offy 2 x 1 intake manifold with the adapter plates to allow 2bbl carbs. As for the carb I'm still researching. I have the chevy inline 6 power manual book from Leo Santucci and has given me loads of info. . .but I am still unsure on the carb. I want 2 2bbl carbs rated around 300 to 350cfm. From the book that seems to be an ideal setup for street/strip. Although she won't be seeing any strip use for a very long time.

I've also thought about keeping the manifold as it is and get the adapter kit and have 1 2bbl carb at 300cfm.


But the book gives you alot of ideas on what you'll need to do.

Companies that offers the manifolds are:
Offenhauser, Precision Engine SErvice, GMC, and Clifford.

Headers. . .good luck. So far Langdon's Stovebolt has the only thing that I see would work for me.

Just one question, are you absolutely sure your motor is a 194??? Thought by 1966 they would all be at least 230ci if not 250s. Just a thought.

from novasource, they show that in 66 it was both the 153L4, 194 L6, 230 L6, then the rest are V8 283 and 327.

My 194 is from a 66 Nova. Raben is correct with the available engines for 66

The engine that 65Chevy2 is referring to he mentions came out of a 66 Chevelle and is in or going into his 65 Chevy II ( Nova). As far as I know the 194 engine was never offered in the Chevelle line up for 66. So the Chevelle motor he has is either a 230 or possibly a 250 and more is better so I'd say he made out over the 194.

I had a 67 Chevy II that originally came with a 194 and I think that year was the end of the line altogether for the 194.

Mike, I think you are correct that the Chevelle never had the 194 in it in '66 and I don't think the 230 was still used after 1965 so he very well could have a 250. Wouldn't the casting # off the block clarify this for him?
