In Leo's book he mentions oil restrictors are needed for 600HP engines used in strip only cars. My understanding is that the oil restrictors are needed to eek out every last bit of power and reduce losses through parasitic drag.

Would they also be needed on a turbocharged 250ci street engine whose goal is 500hp?

Oil restrictors are used to reduce the amount of oil in the upper part of the motor. Since it takes a while to return to the pan if you reduce the excess then there is more oil in the oil pan for the oil pump to work with.I personally have always limited the use of oil restrictors to SOLID lifter/roller motors only.Paul

Thank you! That is about the only question that had me worried. I get to start working on my car in about 4 months and this will really help me plan in advance.
