Hi everyone!
I have a question, does anyone make shaft mounted roller rocker arms for an inline 250 etc?
I would like to get some instead of buying new roller rockers, studs, stud girdle etc.
Thanks for any input!

hank, I am going through the same process and to awnser yor question, You cant...The reason being is that you will pull the rocker studs out of the head with the roller rockers...hence the reason for the conversion. I have looked at pinning the rocker shafts as an alternative but if you were to do that then why not go all the way and convert to 7/16 studs....

It is The new cam Lifts/Spring Pressures that's what realy Pulls the studs Out. But also The Roller rockers do not clear the Stock Stud Boss.and The BBlock rockers do not fit the smaller 3/8 stud Most are a 7/16 So in a way why do half the job. Do it right & safe the first time around. Will save you a headack in the long run. Hope this helps }[oooooo]

Thanks guys, so are shaft mounted rocker arms available?
I see a picture of them in the "Power Manual" Leo's book, on page 102. What engine is that? Also on page 101 Jesel 1.75 ratio shaft rocker arms on a Glen Self engine.
Any more info on that?

I have a set of Crower Roller rockers mounted to screw in 3/8" studs provided by Mike Kirby - he said they would work fine. . . . am I asking for trouble?

Set the Lash On the valves and Take a look Under the Rocker to Be sure that it clears the stud Mount. If it does then you shoule be Just fine. Are the studs Pined?? what is the cam Lift Stock Or Not?? hope this helps }[oooooo]

I have Crane gold rocker arms w/a 1.7 ratio for 3/8 studs.
I would like to get new shaft mounted 1.75-1.80 rocker arms to run a solid roller cam.
I do not want to buy a set of new rockers,studs, new stud girdle if there are shaft mounted rocker arms available somewhere? If you look in Leo Santucci's inline six cylinder power manual on page 101 there is a picture of Jessel shaft mounted 1.8 & 1.75 roller rocker arms.
I guess no one has talked to him about that set up?

I THINK Leo is using a head made from 2 cut and welded V8 heads.

Yes Leo is running a Hybread Head Alum v8head welded together. Hank I can ask Leo about that if you'd like I talk with him all the time. I didn't realy think about It i could have asked him about that tonite when i spoke with him. But we had other things on the menu you could say. }[oooooo]

OK, sounds good, could you ask him the specs on his turbo that was on his 1950 Chevy coupe?
I know it was a t04 but that's it.Do you talk to Glen Self also?

I would like to know the compressor size, turbine housing A/R, compressor housing A/R & turbine wheel size.
If you get a chance to talk to Glen Self, ask him where he got the shaft mounted rocker arm set-up,is it custom made?

I read at the JESEL site that shaft rockers replace: studs, stud girdles, stud rockers and pushrod guideplates.

What advantages do shaft rockers have over regular rockers?

What would a typical shaft rocker setup be like?
I imagine it consists of a long base that is bolted into the holes where the rocker studs would be and then the shaft rockers mounted to that base. Is this correct?

Any comments on shaft rockers?

Some have a long single mount, others are individual, this allows you to shim intake and exhaust rockers to different heights for the best rocker geometry. I haven't measured a late six but Jessel shaft rockers ride in a saddle. You would have to machine down the rocker bosses and tap them for the bolt that holds the saddle to the head. The stability of the saddle would be limited to the surface area left on the boss. You would have to check to see if a saddle with the right dimensions is available. After all is said and done, the cost, in my opinion, is too great for the results. Big block rollers and screw in studs are fine. Arm

I broke the stands off on cyl 3 on my 4.0 jeep. Jesel set up using 1.7 rockers. Retaping the holes to 7/16ths made for a thin side of the rocker stand. That coupled with increased r's and a super agressive ramp on the cam did it in. I took a bridgeport to the top of the head and mounted a 1 1/4" steel bar and relocated all Jesel rocker stands, works like a charm.
