Hi Guys
Continuing the search for parts for my 750HP Chevy 250...
I was searching for the correct push lenght for my application (roller rocker arms with stock lenght valves) and i´ve found
Crane´s site 9.718" for non roller rocker arms 10.000" for roller rocker arms
Isky´s Site 9.812" for roller rocker arms
Santucci´s book 9.885"
any of you have any ideia what is the correct size? or it´s better buying a pushrod checker and measure it?

A call to Crane's tech line when I was building my 250 indicated they wanted an exact measurement for them to make the pushrods. No problem except they only will build their high price mega pushrods, no options. For a street engine that was money wasted to me so I ended up using some off the shelf longer jobs from an 81 Chrysler Slant 6. Same 5/16 and hollow ball tips as a Chevy except longer by about .080". It ended up they provided the correct geometry in my case.
With 750 hp I'm sure you won't use 5/16 off the shelf rods but make sure your length is accurate before you order a set from Crane or anyone. They won't be cheap to buy and even more money if you end up needing a second set of a different length.

Try Smith Brothers in Bend Oregon. You will still to give them measurements and the types of ends you want, but they will not rip off your wallet. http://www.pushrods.net/

My push rods are 10.400 and It is best to buy the checker and Oder the right push rods. and right now i have no clue to what this new motor will be pushing. BUT I'll tell you it won't be on pump gas, not at 87-93 octang anyway. And I for get what push rod lenght was on my last motor with a 583-607 lift with Roller rockers If i can find any of the olds one I could check them BUT they were stock DIA.

Mike For my application a 3/8 push rod is required, a 5/16 would not stand the .650+ lift tha i will be using!
Bruce Thx for the link!
Larry i won´t be using pump gas either, in brazil we have alcohol on pumps, no problem finding it! i read somewhere that alcohol has the same compression resistance as a 120 oct. gas. pretty cool! i will buy the checker mutch safier!!!
