Dear Gene;

Thanks for the tip.

That's a good price & someone will grab it, I'm sure.

6inarow,

I had to cancel my order for the Offy today since I did not do my homework.

I am going to have a clearance problem with the front carb and the associated air cleaner on my 57 passenger car. The hood slopes down toward the front.

I am forced to go with either the OEM intake that is on the car or a Clifford.

The reason I asked is because I got the "last one" they had. I wonder how many "last ones" there were. I also wonder if it is for a 216 or 235. The sales dude sounded pretty young - seemed like he didnt know a 235 from turnip...

Try using Ford Holley 1 bbls from a 1950's 223 L6. They are about half the height of a Rochester Model B. They were made in different sizes over the years, so make sure they match.

Warrie, I believe Offy made a 2bbl intake, but if you can find a 4bbl and make an adapter like I did.

Well I decided to go with the Fenton Headers, Fenton intake, and 2 single barrel rebuilt Rochester Carbs.

I was unsuccessful in getting a shop in Maryland to handle the job. The younger folks that manned these shops seemed quite leery about taking this on. Everyone was afraid of the proximity of the existing carb linkage to the new exhaust pipes. I really began to wonder if they had ever worked on straight sixes.

My Chevy car club recommended me to a family owned shop in Purcellville, Virginia (77 miles away from where I live) that races cars and owns a filling station. They had done exhaust work for others in my club. The son is known as "Mr. 409." I was tickled pink with how the car performed and looked when I picked it up on Saturday. It was money well spent as far as I am concerned.
